According to Williams, the role of the state was to maintain order and peace. Economy- Even though Rhode Island was the smallest colony, it had many important economical profit builders such as shipbuilding, iron, and rum.
Government- The government was placed in the hands of the settlers. It had a legislative, executive, and judicial branch when they held town meetings. They also elected two deputies to help preserve order, call town meetings, and help resolute problems.
Religion- Rhode Island was created by Roger Williams to be religiously free. Anyone could practice any religion that they wanted INCLUDING Catholicism.
Target Residents- Rhode Island had an open range of target residents. The took anybody they wanted under their wing. Many people also moved there because they were seeking the same goals.
